Safety and conduct
Hazing, safety, and how to report a problem
If you are a parent, this is probably the page you came for. Below is where the chapter stands, the rules we are held to by people other than ourselves, and how to report something without going through us at all.
Our position
Where we stand
Hazing has no place in joining this chapter. No one should be asked to do anything humiliating, dangerous, or illegal to become a member, and a bid never depends on it. The new member period is for learning the history of the fraternity and getting to know the people in it.
If a new member is ever asked to do something that feels wrong, he can say no, and he can report it using any of the routes below. We would rather hear about a problem early, from anyone, than find out about it later. Raising a concern should never cost anyone their bid.
Not our rules alone
The rules we are held to
The chapter answers to three bodies outside itself. Each one publishes its own rules, so you can read them in the original rather than in our summary.
Oklahoma law
Hazing is a crime in Oklahoma under Title 21, Section 1190 of the state statutes. The law applies to individual students as well as to the organizations they belong to.

OU prohibits hazing under its own hazing policy, which applies to every student organization on campus, and it investigates the reports it receives.

The national fraternity states that its Supreme Chapter and National Council "unequivocally oppose all acts of hazing." Its published statements of position also cover alcohol, drugs, and sexual misconduct.

Public record

Federal law now requires universities to publish every case in which a student organization was found responsible for hazing. OU's report names the organization, describes what happened, and gives the outcome. We would rather you read it than take our word for anything on this page.
How to report something
You never have to go through the chapter to report a problem. Any of these routes works, and the first three are run by people outside it.
- In an emergency
- Call 911. Do not wait to report it anywhere else first.
- To the university
- OU takes reports through its online reporting page (opens in a new tab), and by phone on a line run by an independent company at (844) 428 6531.
- To the national fraternity
- Pi Kappa Phi runs an anonymous reporting line (opens in a new tab). The person reporting is not identified.
- To us
- If you would rather start with the chapter, write to pikappaphiatou@gmail.com. You never have to.
